Three Wishes By Barbara Delinsky

FROM THE FRONT COVER.

"When a surprise October blizzard hits Panama, Vermont, blanketing the sleepy little town with several feet of snow, it creates a scene so tranquil no one suspects the tragedy to come, least of all Bree Miller.

Slipping and sliding as she walks home from the diner where she works, she barely has time to notice the runaway truck skidding toward her until it is too late.

She awakens in the hospital, remembering little of the accident or the hours thereafter, except for a very bright light, a beatific smile, and a mystical nonvoice granting her three wishes.

FROM THE BACK COVER.

"Three Wishes is a novel of redemption. It speaks of courage, of second chances, of the importance of home and putting down roots…Three Wishes is about people who take risks to live their dreams".

The book follows Bree as she weaves through the towns-people both far and near, new and old.

Past, present and future are interwoven and it becomes evident that choices made at this particular time have ramifications that run backwards, forwards and outwards. So for example, love and forgiveness when enacted right now can heal past mistakes, absorbed by the present to bless future relationships.

What a gift… A surprising romance! It touched on the romance of wo(man) and spirit, mother/father/ son/daughter and man and woman.

It starts with a chance encounter with fate and then the spirit steps in presenting choices.

Suddenly there are choices about following your fatings, feelings, feetings and featings.

Timing is enormously important and how you spend your time is crucial. Big questions with a delicate sensitive answer!

I really liked this book.

It puts the question back on the reader, what would you do if you had a situation that was similar but tailored to your spirit? What would your 3 wishes be…?

It made me think, and since I read the book I am still thinking, what my wishes would be? Trying consciously to see the manifested outcome of my wish. Understanding that the holistic ramifications of actions is incredibly interwoven. For Example, Peace On Earth! I believe for true peace on earth to exist there has to be consciousness, and consciousness does not come without spirits working together , both on themselves and as a community.

But seriously how can that happen - suddenly there is no ego, no competition, no one better no one worse!

I don't think the so called civilized mind (passing as the soul) could handle that… good gracious where would one fit?

I have thought about Buckminster Fuller and what he said in his book "Critical Path"(review coming) that big changes happen in society when a new technology is found, re-discovered, created or is simply presented by the ever-giving earth. Like silicon, it is the root of the Internet the global communication that we take for granted and forget what a wonderful gift it is that we can communicate as individuals around the world to all our brothers and sisters. Who would have thought that a single person could transmit to the global community what they really feel.

See what I mean about this book - it makes you think and connect.

So maybe a wish for the global society and that includes Grandfather sky, Grandmother moon, Father sun and Mother earth as well as all her children from rocks to humans is that we use this wonderful gift to think and connect and grow towards Peace.
